Best RAM for Gaming PC and High-end Servers
RAM or Random Access Memory is the one of the most essential and important components of a computer. RAM is a high speed volatile memory that stores important instructions to be made available for processor for processing. Also when processing is finished by the processor then the data is made available to different devices or programs through RAM only. RAM is commonly called as memory and is available in different types and speeds. Currently the most common RAM types are DDR2, DDR3 and DDR4 RAM. DDR2 is nearly obsolete, DDR3 is currently being used with most systems, DDR4 is new but is gaining popularity and is the future of DDR (double Data Rate) RAM. I have written many useful articles on RAM in this blog which you can find below.
- How to choose the best RAM
- Single RAM vs Multiple RAM in Dual Channel Mode

Along with Processor and Graphics Card, RAM also plays and important part in the performance of a computer. For normal PC any RAM can do but if you are a gamer or performance enthusiast then you have to use performance series RAM if you want top performance in games and other memory intensive programs and softwares.

Hi Akshat,
I have upgraded my motherboard to ASUS Crossblade Ranger and i am using G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC DRAM (F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL) however i find that my system is very slow and it roughly takes about 45 seconds to boot in spite of having a SSD i would like to know if this memory is compatible or not and would like you to suggest some good memory and while browsing i found this particular product G.Skill Ares F3-2133C10D-16GAB RAM pls advice about this shall i go in for this memory product or if you have any other suggestions pls let me know. i found this memory at a good offer for less than 10K so pls advice as to go for this or not. Also at times i get a terrible noise as if the computer is running on heavy work even though i close all the work i am doing can you pls tell me what would be the cause for this?
Thanking you in Advance.
Hello Prakash,
I don’t see anything wrong with the RAM as your computer won’t even boot if the RAM was not compatible. G.Skill RipjawsX is a very good RAM and you won’t find anything better. I think you should look at your BIOS settings to make sure that everything is running all right and is optimized. Also monitor your CPU usage and report it to me. Also make sure your windows system files health is good and there is no virus infection. Also please list down your complete PC specs.
Regards
Akshat
Hi Akshat,
My motherboard to ASUS Crossblade Ranger and i am using G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC DRAM (F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL) i would like to go in for additional 8gb of RAM as i have a lot of audio and video and also external hdd… Pls help me with this also advice if this model has been stopped if so pls let know RAM”s equivalent to the one i am using i would like to go in for 16GB of RAM 2133MHz and above which would be compatible with my motherboard. pls advice on this. I also checked and found that this RAM G.Skill Ares F3-2133C10D-16GAB RAM is compatible pls advice can i go for this or can you suggest which you think would be best and not costly…
Also could you pls advice on this on this tip which i got from the reviews for the memory which i am using currently (this memory module will default to 1600MHz when installed. You’ll need to adjust the voltage and clock to get the desired 2133MHz clock speed.) Can you pls guide me with the steps as to how this can be done on my motherboard.
Thanking you in Advance
There is no need to buy the same RAM again for compatibility. RAMs from different manufacturers or models can work together but to be on the safer side they must be of same frequencies. So you can buy two 4GB sticks of same frequencies as per your needs.
Ha I akshat
Thank you for your reply could you pls tell me the rams with the one I am using now also pls help me change mhz of the ram I am using for it is showing only half of 2133 mhz.
Thanking you in advance
Please see your BIOS as it may be running on lower FSB.
Sir I have 4GB RAM but I don’t know it’s company and which type of ddr
How I see about my RAM details sir ?
Download CPU-Z and then you can find it in the memory section.
I’m planning on assembling a new pc
I have some spare parts of my dead pc and I absolutely don’t want to waste them
My budget is 40000rs max
I have corsair vs550
3 hdds(2x500gb. + 1x250gb) NO ssd
À cd player
I’m literally dumping everything else as its no longer worth (2008 stuff lIke core 2 quad and 4gb ddr2 ram along with nvidia gt710)
So with a budget of 40000rs I want to buy
A cabinet
A motherboard
À processor(most probably AMD)
A ssd (120gb )
A cooling fan for processor
A 1tb hdd (IF POSSIBLE )
A gpu (IF POSSIBLE)something better than my current gt710. If not possible in my budget then I will stick in my gt 710
I’M CURRENTLY CENTERED AT A MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX [I’m not taking tomahawk max because they are essentially the same and tomhawk max is 2000rs more expensive. I’m on a tight budget ]
I need some advice regarding what case processor ,motherboard, ram, hdd, ssd, etc………
Thanks in advance
